Sika is acquiring JMTexsa, S.A. de C.V. of Mexico and Texsa India Ltd, two leading manufacturers of waterproofing membranes. Sika has signed an agreement to this effect with the French industrial group Soprema. The acquisitions strengthen Sika’s growth strategy and accelerate the expansion in emerging markets. The companies being acquired generated annual sales of CHF 23 million in 2012 and have 100 employees.

The companies being acquired by Sika – JMTexsa, S.A. de C.V. of Mexico und Texsa India Ltd. – produce bituminous waterproofing membranes for the roofing market. As the world market leader in thermoplastic membranes, Sika thereby gains market access to the important roofing and waterproofing markets in Mexico and India.

The two factories – one in Altamira, Mexico, the other in Jaipur, India – will reinforce Sika’s regional supply chains and provide an excellent base from which to develop and expand the markets in neighboring emerging economies.

Sika CEO Jan Jenisch: “These acquisitions enable us to further accelerate our growth strategy in the emerging markets. We gain two established production sites and obtain an excellent foundation for the development of the promising Mexican and Indian markets.”
